After the family’s cat was found dead, Jacksonville homeowners say 2 dogs were responsible
JACKSONVILLE, Florida. Another Jacksonville family pet was found brutally killed in his own backyard.
And this time the discovery took place in the back yard of a house on Edgewood Drive on the city’s west side.
“It’s hard enough for us to lose our cat. We don’t have kids right now, so Leo was like our kid, ”said owner Timothy Evans.
The owners of the cat Leo believe that two dogs were responsible for his death.
The surveillance video shows the dogs wandering their front yard and driveway after believing Leo was killed by the dogs in the back yard.
Its owners are very saddened by what happened because just a few days ago they saw News4Jax’s coverage of a series of fatal dog attacks on pets in the Mandarin area and had no idea they would find themselves in a similar situation.

Timothy and Cecelia Evans said they came home Thursday night after work to find the bloody remains of their 8-year-old cat Leo in the back yard.
“I knew right away he was dead. When I turned him over, I found a bite mark on his head,” said Timothy Evans.
Her home security camera recorded two dogs coming from the side of the house and then briefly walking into a path that gave access to the back yard. Leo’s owners believe the dogs can access their back yard via a narrow stream that runs behind their home.
“I had never seen dogs like this on our property. Our house is so far from the road that we felt really safe with our pets on the back porch, ”said Cecelia Evans.
Leo was an indoor and outdoor car, so the couple installed a pet door so he could come and go, but they believe he may have been cornered by the dogs and couldn’t get back in.
“It looks like the side of our back porch was the first fight because there were some scratches in the dirt there. It looks obvious that something happened, ”said Timothy Evans.

They also found muddy dog paw prints on the patio.
It is unclear where the dogs came from, but one dog wears a collar. Both dogs were last seen on video leaving the property and then walking around the neighborhood.
Leo’s owners hope that someone will identify the dog’s owner before another pet is injured or killed.
