MIAMI — Jorge Alfaro scored a drawn homer in the eighth inning, and the Miami Marlins ended the Los Angeles Dodgers’ winning streak in nine games with a 5-4 win Monday night.
Alfaro drove a slider from Dodger’s reliever Victor González (3-1) into midfield for his third homer of the season.
All-stars Mookie Betts and Max Muncy and 2019 NL MVP Cody Bellinger weren’t on the Dodgers’ starting line-up, but all three pubs hit in eighth place as LA scored twice to tie 4-4.
Miami Reliever Zach Pop allowed Albert Pujols’ leadoff single and then left Will Smith and Muncy. David Hess (1-0) led Gavin Lux to a run and let Bellinger’s game-tying victim fly. In his Marlins debut, Hess held onto it and walked with Betts before pulling Chris Taylor right back with a flyball and hitting AJ Pollock.
Anthony Bender scored a goalless ninth place for his first save in the major league.
The Marlins made up a 2-0 deficit with a three-time third place in the RBI singles of Garrett Cooper and Miguel Rojas. Cooper scored after the second base player’s throwing error Zach McGinstry.
Jazz Chisholm made it 4-2 with a single in the fourth.
Dodgers starter Walker Buehler led the third with a Trevor Rogers doubles and faced Chris Taylor doubles. Justin Turner’s single went in Taylor.
Rogers was overturned after five innings. On his first start since being named All-Star, he allowed two runs on six hits and dropped eight.
Buhler allowed four runs on five hits and hit six in five innings. The right-handed went two and hit a batter.

The capacity restrictions at LoanDepot Park were lifted for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic, although there were still plenty of good places available. The start of the four-game series attracted 15,290 fans.

Marlins: RHP Sixto Sánchez is about to undergo arthroscopic surgery and won’t hit this season after an MRI reveals a small tear in the posterior capsule of his throwing shoulder. Sánchez has been sidelined throughout the year due to shoulder pain that is expected to be one of the main pillars in the club’s rotation.
