Today bettors have a loaded betting menu including 15 MLB games and 1 NBA playoff game. For an updated breakdown of Tuesday’s betting promotions, be sure to tune in to the VSiN Market Insights Podcast with Josh Appelbaum. It will be released at 1 p.m. ET. I’ll also be moderating ET Betting Across America with Mike Pritchard from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to discuss all of today’s promotion in more detail.
In the meantime, let’s discuss where the action flows for a trio of Tuesday games.
7:05 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Angels (38-40) against the New York Yankees (40-38)
The Angels stole the start of the series last night with 5-3 and collected as + 145 street dogs. The Yankees have now lost four games in a row. In the rematch tonight, Los Angeles passes the ball to left-handed Andrew Heaney (4-5, 4.72 ERA) and New York starts righty Jameson Taillon (2-4, 5.18 ERA). That line opened with the Yankees listed as the -150 home favorites and the Angels as the +135 street dog. The public can’t leave the Yankees and await a race to catch up at home after a lackluster loss. But smart guys bite the Angels with another Plus Money payout, as we’ve seen the Los Angels drop from + 135 to + 130. The Angels have value as contrarian street dogs with a win and a dog with a high grand total. In the past, high totals have benefited dogs as the expected runs achieved lead to more variance and potential for irritation. The Angels are batting .253 in 4th place in the MLB this season. The Yankees are batting .235, which ranks 16th.
7:07 p.m. ET: Seattle Mariners (41-38) at Toronto Blue Jays (40-36)
Both teams have played well recently. The Mariners have just won two out of three from the White Sox and are now 10-3 in their last 13 games. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have just won three of four of the Orioles and are now 7-1 in their last 8 games. At the start of the series tonight, the Mariners are sending the right Chris Flexen (6-3, 3.87 ERA) and the Jays Counter with the lefty Robbie Ray (5-3, 3.35 ERA). This line opened with Toronto as the -175 home favorite and Seattle as the +160 street dog. Sharps have pounced on the Jays, taking Toronto from -175 to -195. The non-league home favorites this season are 268-259 (63%). The big home favorites -150 or more after a day off are 37-17 (69%) this season. Toronto will rely on its bats in this case. The Jays hit .264 which takes second place in the MLB. The Mariners beat .217, which is in 29th place. Toronto is +65 in the run difference. Seattle is -43. We could also consider a low-scoring game here. The grand total is 10, with the juice juiced to -120, signaling a possible drop to 9.5. The weather is mid-1970’s with winds of 7-10 MPH blowing from the right center.
8:30 p.m. ET: Milwaukee Bucks at Atlanta Hawks
This is Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bucks lead the series 2-1. Milwaukee have won their last two games and are favorites, most recently against Atlanta 113-102 as a 4.5-point road favorite in Game 3. Tonight, the Bucks aim to take a commanding 3-1 lead. That game-4-line opened with Milwaukee listed as a 6-point street favorite. The audience rides the hot hand and puts on the points once again with Giannis and Company. We also saw Milwaukee make some money for smart guys when Hawks star Trae Young was advertised as questionable (knuckles), which drove Milwaukee from -6 to -7. The street favorites this postseason are 15-8 (65%). Playoff favorites with at least half a point of line movement in their favor are ATS 27-21 (56%). Wiseguys have come down hard on the ground too, likely due to Young’s questionable status. After opening at 221, the total has dropped to 219. The under is 2: 1 in this series. If the total in the Conference Finals is 215 or more, the score is less than 29-18 (62%) in the last ten years. Atlanta is in the lower playoffs with 10-3-1 (79%). With 2-1, the Bucks lead -1600 favorites (94%) to advance to the NBA Finals. The Hawks are +850 dogs that will come back and win the series.
